THE FRASER VALLEY
Westminster Abbey
District of Mission
British Columbia - Canada
Westminster Abbey, a monastery run by Benedictine monks, was built in 1954 on a hillside overlooking the Fraser River and valley. This location with its tower can be seen from across the fraser and from the eastern approaches to Mission along the Lougheed Highway (#7)
The grounds are open to visitors. The setting is pastoral with trails through woods and expanses of grassy meadows. At the end of one trail is a fabulous lookout with spectaclar views of the river below and the valley extending towards the south and east. Due to the ambience it is a perfect place for quiet thought pondering life's treasures and challenges.
During the week the monastery provides tours for visitors. For more information on visiting or participating in Abbey activities the following website is highly recommended www.sck.ca
